Remembering Shaun and raising £13,000+ in aid of Macmillan

Earlier this month (September), we dusted off our golf clubs and spent a day teeing off in memory of our former Sales Director, Shaun Ford.

Shaun was one of our longest standing members of staff, who we sadly lost to cancer towards the end of last year. 

We wanted to do something in Shaun’s honour, as well as raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, who helped Shaun and his family.

Alongside Tandom Metallurgical (Midlands), we sponsored a charity golf day that was organised by the Non-Ferrous Club and took place at Handsworth Golf Club, who kindly hosted the event. SDB walked away in first place with 97 points, closely followed by Tandom 2 with 91 points and ELG2 with 90 points.

“We are delighted to say we had 84 participants and raised an amazing £13,200 in Shaun’s memory. Due to the success of the event we’re planning on doing it all over again in 2022!” explains our Commercial Director, Ed George.

Jayna Kawa, Macmillan’s West Midlands Relationship Fundraising Manager, said:  “A huge thank you to all at Alutrade for such an incredibly successful golf day and fundraising £13,200 in memory of Shaun.

“The money can help to fund a Macmillan nurse for approximately 12 weeks, helping other people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. You have made a real difference and we are so grateful for all your support, thank you so much.”
